Why MetCon5? Even More Custom

As you’ve read in our blog before, we customize more than the cover at MetCon5.  Our goal is to provide the coolest possible MetCon5 Crossfit Training Log for your clients.

Case in point was the custom journal that we did for Crossfit Waterloo.  They wanted to have a hybrid log that included the workout journal and fuel5 food journal all in one.

We also moved the monthly planning to the front of the journal and the strength and benchmark tracking to the front.

Just another example of why with MetCon5, custom means custom.

10 Minutes to Crossfit Greatness

I was watching a behind the scenes type documentary for a pro hockey team the other day and the coach was telling his players about 10 Minutes to Greatness.  Essentially, he was talking about taking 10 minutes a day to get in a little extra work, practice, etc. and talking about how it adds up over a season to produce greatness.  After watching, it was obvious that this had a great application to Crossfit; specifically as it relates to working on our goats.

If you have been consistent with your workouts, there is no doubt that you are fitter than ever.  However, if you are not doing specific work on your goats, the same ‘chinks in your armor’ are still haunting you and stealing time from your WODs.  So, here is where the 10 Minutes to Greatness comes in.

  • Choose 2 of your biggest goats…mine happen to be pull-ups and double-unders.  Sure there are likely more than 2 things you need to work on, but focus is key…we want to see progress…for others, mobility might be a big one.  It doesn’t always have to be a specific movement, look for the things that will have the biggest impact on your performance.
  • Schedule 10 minutes each day in your MetCon5 Training Log before or after your WOD (best to do before) or another time during the day.  These are mandatory appointments.  Work your goats on alternating days
  • set your stop watch for 10 minutes and spend the entire time with a purpose in mind whether it be simply getting in extra volume for pull-ups or kipping practice…have one specific objective for each of those 10 minute blocks
Adding the 10 minutes is an easy way to add an extra hour of training with minimal impact on the rest of your day….it is also a great way to make sure that you won’t be fighting the same goats year after year.

You will be surprised with the great things you can achieve by adding a little extra time with a lot of focus.

Why Choose MetCon5? – The Little Details

We rec’d a question over the holidays from a Crossfit Affiliate asking us the difference between our MetCon5 Training Journals and our competitors.  I answered with many of the features that make MetCon5 different.

However, it got me to thinking why should someone buy from us aside from the features that make MetCon5 better…

Certainly the product should deliver value to you as the consumer. While we are understandably biased in our thinking that the MetCon5 Training Journal is the best crossfit training journal available, I have no doubt that our competitors products deliver excellent value to those that use them. So why choose MetCon5?
I think that we can illustrate this with a quick story about one of the affiliates that we work with.
We worked with StrongPoint Crossfit to customize one of our journals with the logo that they provided and sent them out a complimentary copy to review.
The feedback was great, but they wanted to know if we could work with the logo that they sent and change it to yellow with a red background.  So we mocked it up with an additional option as follows:
The client then asked us if we could change the logo to black, yellow, and red…which became the final cover.
We spent a fair bit of time working with the logo and going back and forth on what you may find to be very small details before the client had even committed to an order. However, we consider these small details incredibly important when they are the difference between a client being just happy or the client being absolutely thrilled with the result.
While we may not always succeed, we are passionate about thrilling our clients.
Whether it be small details on a custom cover or looking for ways to enhance the journals themselves (like integrating Rip’s strength standards with the strength tracking pages instead of just sticking them in the back of the journal), we are always looking to enhance the value delivered by our MetCon5 Training Journal, Crossfit Coaching Planner, or Fuel5 Food Journal.
Our main goal at MetCon5 is to be a small but important part of your Crossfit success. We get as warm and fuzzy thinking about the people tracking their Fran times in our free printable trial as we do about those doing it in a purchased hard-copy journal.
Focusing on the small details is one of the ways that we will make our journals the best training tool that they can be…and in short, that is one of the reasons why we think you should choose MetCon5.

Why Choose MetCon5? Tons O’ Room

One of the most frustrating things we found with many of the workout journals out there was the lack of room to actually track our WODs in detail. We always felt like we were making crib notes and jamming things into small boxes when writing in them, and writing small is not something we are good at on a regular day let alone after 100 pullups.

One of the many reasons to choose the MetCon5 Crossfit Training Journal to track your Crossfit workouts is that we give you tons of room to track everything Crossfit while still keeping the journal a nice compact 7.5 inches square.

As an example, take a look at the image where we have recorded our warm-up, skill work, strength work, our MetCon crossfit WODs, and cool down for an AM and PM session (two-a-days) in one day.

If we can fit two a days in our journal, you should have no problem tracking everything that you could possibly want without having to write in fine print.

This is just one of the many reasons why we believe that there is really nothing that compares to the MetCon5 Crossfit Training Journal and that after recording a few WODs, you will love it as much as we do.
